A TRIBUTE TO ROBERT "BERT" FREEMAN: SEPT 7, 1929 - DEC 9, 2003:

I first met Robert "Bert" Freeman back in the 1980's and we became good friends. As I had not heard from him in the last year or two, I was saddened to read on the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame website that Bert had died. He was born Sept 7, 1929 and died on Dec 9, 2003. I, as well as many others, will miss Bert.

During the Korean War, Bert Freeman served his country in the Navy . After completing his military service, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in education. He taught biology and anatomy & physiology at the high school and college level and coached many sports. After undergoing bypass surgery in 1981, Bert retired from teaching. After his retirement from teaching, he began studding hypnosis. He has trained at the Lewis Hypnosis Center (which was under the direction of a legend, the late Sol Lewis for many years,) Michigan Hypnosis Institute, Holistic Hypnosis Center, Huron Valley Institute, and Western Michigan University.

Bert was the owner of the Freeman Hypnosis Center and the American Academy of Hypnosis (a hypnotherapy school licensed by the Michigan Board of Education), and has taught self-hypnosis at a local college. He was a member of the Association to Advance Ethical Hypnosis, Association of Humanistic Psychology, National Society of Hypnotherapists, and American Council of Hypnotist Examiners.

During his twenty years or so as a hypnotist, Bert has attended and lectured at many seminars throughout the United States. He has been a featured speaker at the National Society of Hypnotherapists Conference, Midwest Hypnosis Convention in Chicago. In 1988, he received a Special Recognition Award for the "Outstanding Professional Presentation" at the International Hypnotherapy Conference in Anaheim. In 1998, he received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from United States Congressman Fox at the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame Conference.

Bert was inducted into the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame in 1989. He has also received the following awards from the IHHF: Hypnotic Voice of the Year, Hypnotherapist of the Year, the Penny Award, Silver Alumni Recognition, Golden Alumni Recognition. He was the father of  three children and six grandchildren. During and beyond his years as Executive VP of the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame, he was very supportive in promoting the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame.
